This month, we are delighted to introduce you to Alexia Solomou, Associate Legal Officer at the International Court of Justice. Ms. Solomou is from Cyprus and has recently succeeded in setting up a Cypriot Branch of the International Law Association. She shares with us her experience of working at the ICJ and offers us great insight in what it takes to set up an ILA branch.

In light of the extremely selective nature of the examination, the Diploma is generally issued to only one or two candidates per period.

  • Academy Reception African Foundation for International Law

    On Thursday 28 of July 2016 for the third time, a networking reception was organized for the African participants attending the 2016 Public International Law summer courses of The Hague Academy of International Law and the African interns of The Hague Tribunals and Courts. The senior African international legal practitioners based in The Hague that were present were Judge Sanji Mmasenono Monageng of the International Criminal Court, Dr. Jean Pélé Fomété Deputy-Registrar of the International Criminal Court, Judge Koffi Kumelio A. Afande of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Tanzanian Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Irene F.M. Kasyanju and Mrs. Gloria Atiba-Davies who is the Victims Expert in the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court. According to Ms. Abdulle, the networking event is aimed at creating a forum for exchange between the African participants and senior African international legal practitioners based in The Hague.
