Library User in the Spotlight: Taritha Sari

Abstract

Taritha Sari, Bachelor student from The Hague University, currently specializing in International Criminal Law and International Humanitarian Law

"The Peace Palace Library is an amazing place. Not only that it offers extensive and comprehensive collections of law books, cases and journals, but it also provides an intellectually stimulating atmosphere. I was doing my dissertation research on “The Principle of Legality of Sentencing, or known as “Nulla Poena Sine Lege” in the sentencing jurisprudence of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former of Yugoslavia” (June 2014) and I must say, I am glad to have done most of the process in the Peace Palace Library. I felt eager to learn, write and research on my topic in such a facilitative environment. In making the life of research bearable, I was assisted by some really helpful and friendly librarians, especially, Mr. Niels van Tol, to whom I owe part of my dissertation to.

For a long time, reading and writing have always been my passion. I always feel comfortable to be surrounded by books and I could spend hours in bookstores and libraries. My three essential travel companions are a pen, a journal and a book/novel. Furthermore, I always feel attached to every library I visit and the Peace Palace Library has left a great impression on me. Although I am planning to continue my studies abroad, I am certain that I will be coming back to this magnetic library and the city of The Hague for a more fitting and comprehensive legal resources".
