Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
To realise access to information fully, everyone needs both access and skills to use information effectively as outlined in the 'Lyon Declaration on Access to Information and Development'. Libraries have the skills and resources to help governments, institutions and individuals communicate, organise, structure and use information effectively for development.

The Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations are the most important goals that the world should work on for the future. The promotion of just, peaceful and inclusive societies was included a an essential goal for the future for the first time. This is SDG16. The Peace Palace signed the SDG Charter and was appointed as official ‘SDG 16 House’.
