Library User in the Spotlight: Jacobine Wieringa

After studying Art History,  I was introduced to the Peace Palace through my sister who worked here as a tour guide for several years and at the end of 2006. I came to work here for the Carnegie Foundation. As a staff member of the Carnegie Foundation, I am occupied with different activities to do with the art collection and cultural affairs of the Peace Palace; mapping the art collection, guiding a restoration process of paintings, maintaining the archives and photo collection but also with PR activities as maintaining the website and handling press affairs. At the moment, I am busy with organizing several events of this year’s centenary which I enjoy a great deal because I realize this is a historic moment in the history of this remarkable building. The best thing about my job and as an art historian is that you get to know almost every little corner of the building and that you learn that behind almost every vase and carpet in the building there is a story to tell.
